1. Set Clear Goals

2. Recognize Team Members’ Strengths

Be knowledgeable about other people’s strengths. This can help form team cohesion since it sets the expectation of who to turn to for guidance or suggestions on any given project. If one team member has more experience tackling a certain type of challenge, let them lead the way forward. 3. Form Trust

Nothing builds trust and team cohesion faster than knowing where you stand and having the freedom to honestly express yourself.

4. Encourage Positive Arguments

During team meetings, encourage members to speak up about any issues with work performance or distribution of tasks. Arguments are bound to happen, and that's OK. Team members who learn how to disagree respectfully gain insight on opposite perspectives.

5. Reward Behaviors

Create team cohesion by rewarding their behaviors. Each time someone on your team engages in a behavior that supports the team and drives innovation, reward them. This could be anything from asking questions, trying something different to supporting a team member. Your team is more likely to stick together to complete projects when given adequate recognition on their behaviors and actions.

6. Ask Your Team for Feedback

Don’t forget to also ask your team for feedback during and after projects. This lets your team know that you’re willing to listen and learn along with them. Accepting opinions from team members also instills trust and a greater working initiative. No one is above constructive criticism, and flaws are often noticed when feedback goes both ways. Show your team members that their opinions matter by showing that giving feedback goes both ways.
