It’s so easy to tell someone what to do, what they should believe, and even what they are capable of. But often times those words fall short. Past experiences, skepticism, and doubt can keep someone from living up from their potential, even if you see it in them. As my guest today child psychologist and board member of Forging Youth Resilience non-profit (FYR) knows, this especially true for at-risk or disadvantaged youth. In our conversation, Duncan shares how lip service doesn’t get you far, but giving kids a chance to overcome challenges they didn’t even think there were capable of trickles out to confidence across other areas of their lives. Duncan also talks about how he has inspired so many to volunteer and give their time to the program by understanding their motivates and finding ways to connect the dots back to their vision. He also opens up about how his passion to impact individuals is what keeps him so dedicated.

Forging Youth Resilience (FYR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers young people to build physical and mental strength for life by providing access to a network of community-based fitness programs and mentorship.
